I stumbled across this guy, Jean Baudin, and watched a couple of videos. At first I was thinking 'what a pretentious prick, yeah an 11 string bass. How pointless *slow clap*', and I was right. It IS fucking pointless. Absolutely no point to it whatsoever other than to be a twat and show off.

Why would you want an 11 string bass? I had a go on a 5 string once and I just used the extra string as a thumb rest.

Why not just learn to play a real guitar?

I don't really think you can compare the two, it's obvious from the video he can only play that thing by tapping, so it's not really the same. But I did have the same thought, I don't think it sounds much different from a normal acoustic guitar.

At what point is the low E on a Normal guitar the same as an E on a Bass guitar?
Like how many octaves above the low E would you need to go on a bass until it matched an Open E note??

Can't be many. I'd say two at a push. Maybe even as little as one. I don't really know, but it doesn't sound that much lower.

Yeah it's just one octave I believe. Pretty damn awesome video that, you're right it does sounds like an acoustic at points. Could imagine some dude sitting in the corner of a posh restaurant playing that.

Kind of cool, he fucked up dozens of times though so not that impressive.
